Police Say Man Lit Fire in Occupied Group Home

INCIDENT: 11:07 hrs. – March 17 – City of Pontiac – Arson of an Occupied Dwelling / OCSO Fire Investigations Unit Assist. #15-44841
SUMMARY: Deputies were dispatched to the 100 block of N. Tasmania Ave. on the report of a subject damaging the home. Deputies located the suspect walking several blocks away and took him into custody. Deputies went to the residence, which is a group home, and spoke with the manager. The manager stated that the subject, who is a resident, broke several items and started a fire in the basement. Deputies could smell smoke and located a charred pillow that had been set on fire, but was extinguished prior to their arrival.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: OCSO Fire Investigators responded to the scene. The suspect was uncooperative with deputies. The suspect was lodged in the Oakland County Jail and charges of Arson of an Occupied Dwelling are pending.
