85 Year Old Woman Killed in Fatal Accident in Royal Oak

(Royal Oak Police, March 2, 2015)

On March 1, 2015, at 2:54 p.m., an 85-year-old Farmington Hills resident, Mary Riordan, drove through a red light on northbound Woodward at 13 Mile. When she entered the intersection she was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on 13 Mile.

As a result of the accident, Mrs. Riordan was seriously injured. She was transported to William Beaumont Hospital by the Royal Oak Fire Department for treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel she died from the injuries sustained in the accident.

The driver and passenger of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and were not transported to the hospital.

The intersection was partially closed for several hours while investigators from the Royal Oak Police Department and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident
