Southfield  MLK Peace Walk Celebration
Hope United Methodist Church (26275 Northwestern Highway)
The peace walk will depart from Hope United at 9:45 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. program at the Ferndale 115_FFLSouthfield Pavilion, located in the Southfield Municipal Complex, 26000 Evergreen Road. Pontiac: The Greater Pontiac Community Coalition’s Unity March, 9-9:30 a.m. Starts at the Phoenix Plaza in downtown Pontiac and ends at McLaren Oakland hospital, 50 N. Perry St., where a ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. featuring vocal and dance performances and remarks from hospital president and CEO Chad Grant, Pontiac Mayor Deirdre Waterman and 50th District Judge Preston Thomas. Pontiac: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. luncheon, 11:15 a.m.-2 p.m. at Centerpoint Marriott, 3600 Centerpoint Parkway. Keynote speaker is Alabama State Sen. Quinton T. Ross Jr. Tickets are $40, $25 for seniors and youths. For tickets, call 248-335-8740.

Royal Oak Township will host its 25th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration at 1 p.m. on Monday, January 19th at the Township community center located at 21272 Mendota in Ferndale.
