Kwanzaa Celebration in Royal Oak Twp Dec. 29 and 30

Friends of Royal Oak Township Inc. and Ujima Consortium International are hosting a Celebration of Kwanzaa on Dec. 29 and 30.
The program features guest speaker Malik Yakini, Nanou Djapo, Afrikan Drum and Dance, and spoken word by Sunkari cliff Sykes and Black Maria. There will also be musical performances by Dreams Deferred and Mary Grant. Plus there will be vendors.
The program will be duplicated both days.
This will be the second year for the celebration, which takes place Dec. 29 and 30 at the Royal Oak Charter Township Recreation Center at 21275 Mendota in Ferndale. Vendors will be there from 5pm to 9pm, with the program running from 6pm to 8:30pm.
