Candy Cane Lane Craft Show Packs Berkley Community Center
(Crystal Proxmire, Dec. 14, 2014)
The Berkley Junior Women’s Club hosted their annual Candy Cane Lane Craft Show Saturday, filling the community center with a variety of vendors. The event featured children’s items, holiday and home decor, jewelry, cross-stitch, knitting and crochet, woodwork, baked goods, gift baskets, Tastefully Simple, Pampered Chef, Tupperware and Arbonne.
One of the biggest hits was Holly Fabian’s creation – Hair Flips. The cloth-covered wire hair design tool was fun for many shoppers as Fabian did demonstrations, putting hair in buns, French twists and headbands. Many shoppers wore Hair Flip buns after visiting Fabian’s booth, which had many colors and patterns for just $5.
Jewelry designer Jim Lambertson had fun selling necklaces and pins of all types, including abalone and natural stone jewelry. His specialty though is angel wings. “Angels are all around us,” Lambertson said, “they keep us safe and they remind us we are loved.”
Another vendor, Turtle Creek Candle Shop, featured work by three generations of candle-makers and crafters. Christina and her daughter make candles in the shape of foods like cakes and pies, while Christina’s mother makes baby shower packages including packs of diapers arranged to look like a three-tiered cake topped with baby toys.
The event raised money for the Berkley Junior Women’s Club. BJWC was founded in 1985 as a non-profit organization encouraging community service to the city of Berkley. Our purpose is “to develop and foster projects of civic betterment, promote leadership training and cooperative action among its members.” Learn more at https://www.facebook.com/BerkleyJuniorWomensClub/timeline.
