This weekend’s Winter Markt in Downtown Birmingham has Shain Park looking like a German village around holiday time. With vendors lined in tents, traditional German food, and gatherings for music, stories and crafts, the event overcomes any chilliness in the air.

In the spirit of celebrating the season, Disney Princess Elsa paid a visit on Saturday to read to the children and royal_servicespose for pictures. Santa Claus was also on hand to listen to the children’s wishes.

Not only did the event bring families together, it gave vendors a chance to sell their goods. Shoppers could find clothing, crafts, decorative items, specialty food items and other potential gifts. Pretzels, bratwurst, potato pancakes and other German fare also helped make the day special.

The Markt continues on Sunday, Dec. 11 from 11am to 4pm. Learn more at http://www.enjoybirmingham.com/calendarevent_T5_R57.php.
