Farmington Police Warn of Fake Utility Workernicholas-schrock-allstate

(Farmington Public Safety press release, Oct. 28, 2014)

On October 28th a resident on Violet Street reported that a utilities company employee asked to enter her home on October 12th to turn off her gas so he could change her gas meter. The resident was uncomfortable with the request and asked him to return in an hour when her husband would be home. The employee never returned.

Further investigation with the utility company revealed that no employee should have been at the Jim Shaffer KELLER ad blackhome for a repair on that particular day. They also stated that they would not need access inside the home to turn the gas off.

The Farmington Public Safety Department continues to investigate this incident and encourages anyone with further information to call this department. The department reminds residents to call us immediately if someone tries to gain access to their home and the situation seems suspicious or odd.
