An Immersive Voyage into Wonderland, “Alice” Comes to Ferndale Oct. 10-25
(Press Release, Aug.27, 2014)
In October, Detroit-based nerve, a performance organization that stages immersive, audience participatory shows in non-traditional spaces, will bring Lewis Carroll’s classic “Alice” to Ferndale, Mich.
In Detroit, nerve has pioneered immersive events in the popular vein of “Sleep No More” and “Play/Date,” where the audience wanders the space and interacts with the actors. Similarly, nerve will recreate Carroll’s timeless story as an immersive journey through Wonderland. Past nerve performances have been staged in a historic church sanctuary and a Victorian mansion.During “Alice,” the audience will travel through the corridors and classrooms of a school on the campus of the Drayton Avenue Presbyterian Church in Ferndale, Mich. They’ll follow Alice, a specially-created puppet, as she meets a cast composed of actors and dancers who will interact with the audience.
