Killer of Ferndale Senior Citizen Pleas Down, Gets 40-60 Year Sentence (video)gallowaycollens1

Thirty-seven year old William Thomas Goad was sentenced to 40-60 years in prison for strangling and stabbing an elderly Ferndale man in January. He was originally charged with open murder in the case, but seed06_kat_bruner_jamesin May he pleaded guilty to the reduced charge of second-degree murder.

Oakland Circuit Judge Phyllis McMillen issued the sentence. Goad also pleaded guilty to various other crimes, and those sentences will be served concurrently.

Goad had befriended the elderly victim, who was a resident at Devon Square Apartments near Orchard Street and Hilton. Surveillance video showed the men coming and going together, and then Goad coming and going alone, taking items from the apartment and using the victim’s car.
