Early 20th century Europe was a caldron. Industrialization weakened some states and strengthened others; a million Europeans left their continent each year seeking better opportunities. World War I began…100 years ago.  This program is funded by the Michigan Humanities Council, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
