Man Shot Stray Pit Bull in Orion Township to Ward Off Attack

INCIDENT: 21:26 Hrs. – Orion Twp. – Animal Complaint/Shots Fired #14-98424
SUMMARY: Deputies were dispatched to an address in the 300 block of Crediton on a report of a loose dog with shots having been fired. Upon arrival it was determined there was a Pit-bull running loose in the neighborhood. The complainant indicated the Pit-bull was attacking his dog through the fence of the kennel and trying to get inside the kennel.
OUTCOME OF INCIDENT: The subject retrieved a shotgun from inside the home and initially tried to scare off the dog as he has done in the past. When the dog would not leave he, fired two rounds, striking and killing the dog. No other injuries were reported and OC Animal Control was notified and will follow up.
