(Ferndale Police, June 16, 2014)

On Wednesday June 11, 2014 at about 5:40 a.m. Ferndale Police rescued a 21 year old woman from a kidnapper with a gun. Police received a 911 call from the clerk working at the Citgo gas station at 8 Mile / Pinecrest. The clerk reported that a woman asked him to call 911 to help her as the man she was with had a gun and was stealing her car. The suspect (JACKSON) assaulted the woman who ran to her car and locked Rudy Serra campaign adthe car doors. Jackson chased her out and was banging on the car windows trying to get in. The police then arrived. They arrested Jackson and recovered a loaded 12 ga. Shotgun from the vehicle.

According to the victim, she met Jackson about two months ago and exchanged phone numbers. They began seeing each other about three weeks ago. Tuesday afternoon, the two got together. All started well, but Jackson started drinking and acting irrationally. The two went to a liquor store in Detroit (near Gratiot / 8 Mile), and Jackson got into an argument with the clerk. Jackson and the victim then went back to her car. He produced a handgun and fired a shot as they left the store. The gun mis-fired and he blamed the victim. He then became physically and verbally abusive towards her. He had her drive him to his home in Detroit. He went inside tof his house as she waited outside in her car. She thought he was retrieving some of her belongings so that she could go home. He brought her belongings, then got in the car himself. He had a shotgun with him. Throughout the early morning hours, he refused to let the victim go home. He threatened to kill her.

The two stopped at a gas station in Detroit where the victim banged on the security glass window and asked the clerk to call 911; the clerk refused to call the police. Jackson and the victim then went to the Citgo station in Ferndale to get gas for the car. seed030_Laurinda RossJackson forced the victim to go inside the station with him to pay, and this is when she asked the clerk to call 911.

Police later executed a search warrant for Jackson’s Detroit home and recovered a .380 semi-auto pistol that matched the description of the one the victim said he exchanged for the shotgun.

SUSPECT: JEFFREY TYRONE JACKSON, b/m, 21 years, Detroit Resident
