Affirmations also has a list of events planned for Pride week.

Saturday, 5/31, all day – Ally Rush Week Kick Off

Affirmations will be kicking off its Ally Campaign with Ally Rush Week beginning on May 31. We’ll be dda_ad_03celebrating our allies with activities all week long, beginning with our kick-off gathering on Saturday which includes a photo and video station, display models walking around with messaged sandwich boards, sign up opportunities to be part of a cross-cultural outreach team, contributing to our ally blog and a whole lot more.

Monday 6/2, all day – Bring your ally to Affirmations Day

Do your friends and allies support the LGBTQ movement? Have they attended an LGBTQ event or visited their local LGBTQ community center? Now is the perfect time to do both! Join us Monday, June 2 for Bring your Allies to Affirmations Day! Find out more about the impact that your friends and allies can make and how to take that first step in “coming out” as an LGBTQ supporter.

Tuesday, 6/3, 7pm-9pm – Tying The Knot movie screening

Join us as we explores one of today’s hottest issues, the political war between gay people who want to marry and those determined to stop them. Tying the Knot digs deep into the past and present to uncover theRudy Serra campaign ad meaning of marriage today, focusing on such key issues as rights, privilege and love.

Wednesday, 6/4, 5:30pm-7pm – New Volunteer Training

Attend a New Volunteer Meeting and learn about Affirmations’ history, mission, vision and philosophy. Enjoy a guided tour of the facility, and hear about ways you can use your skills and passion to make a difference in the LGBTQ community. These meetings are strictly informational and provide an opportunity to answer questions, complete the application process and become more familiar with where you may fit within the organization.

Thursday, 6/5 – TBD

Friday, 6/6 – 7pm-9pm – Gallery Opening Reception: Affirmations 25 year history on display

Celebrate Affirmations’ 25 years of serving the community as we reveal the Center’s 25 year history in on display in the Pittmann-Puckett Art Gallery. Find out how Affirmations was established, who was involved and how it got to where it is today! There will also be an opportunity to join others and talk about your favorite moments at Affirmations.
