Royal Oak Memorial Parade Makes Main Street Proud
(Ron Arnold, May 27, 2014)
This was the most well-attended Memorial Day parade that I’ve seen in the 15 years that I’ve been in Royal Oak. It was great to see Carl and Sander Levin (who was quipping to the crowd) along with Jim Townsend and Sheriff Bouchard in the parade but the highlight was the veterans. They were riding in Jeeps and vintage cars, walking and even riding motorcycles, each one receiving rounds of applause, doffed caps and friendly waves. The Ezra Parker Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was there, as well as two marching bands, the calliope trailer, giant US flag carried by the lads from the Royal Oak High School football team and what seemed like dozens of youth groups.
