(Crystal A. Proxmire, April 3, 2014)

Two minors are in custody after a high-speed chase in a stolen white SUV that went from Detroit, through Oakland County, and into Macomb County.

According to WDIV,  “Detroit police said they were pursuing the SUV for reckless driving, but it refused to stop. The chase ensued, northbound on Southfield Road and onto I-696.  The SUV sped in and out of traffic until it exited on Mound Road, but suddenly veered left over the grassy shoulder and back onto I-696.”

The report also states that something was thrown from the vehicle in the area of 696 and Woodward Avenue, possibly a weapon.  Police are searching the area for the object.

This story will be updated as new information becomes available.

NOTE:  A prior version of this story incorrectly said “Monroe” County when it should have said “Macomb” County.
