On March 6, 2014, at approximately 10:00 a.m., members of the Troy Police
Department Special Investigations Unit (SIU) arrested two home invasion suspects in
Ferndale, according to a press release from the Royal Oak Police Department. The arrests were part of a collaborative home invasion investigation between the Ferndale, Oak Park, Troy and Royal Oak police departments.
The suspects are believed to be responsible for at least 16 home invasions over a two-week period in Ferndale, Oak Park and Royal Oak. At this time investigators from all three communities are actively pursuing charges.
“This was a great multi-jurisdictional effort. All of our departments shared resources and
investigative leads which led to this timely arrest”, said Chief Corrigan O’Donohue.
Troy SIU is comprised of officers from Troy, Auburn Hills and Bloomfield Township
police departments.
In the past three weeks there had been at least eight home invasions in Ferndale, occurring in the northeast section of town along the east side of Hilton Road between 9 and 10 Mile extending east about ½ mile.
Ferndale Police Lt. William Wilson had sent out a statement asking for the public’s help in reporting things like: strangers in the neighborhood, unknown vehicles cruising the neighborhood, and suspicious people knocking on doors and ringing doorbells.
“People should phone the police if they experience a questionable solicitor, or stranger coming to the door acting as if they are looking for somebody who does not live at the house, asking for directions, etc,” Wilson said.
Charges are still being determined in each city.
