Ferndale Police Report: Burglar Tracked by Footprints in Snow
(Lt. William Wilson, Ferndale Police, Feb. 13, 2014)
On 02/11/14 at about 1:40 p.m. officers responded to a home on Ardmore where residents reported their home was burglarized. The couple reported they left their home in the morning and when they returned, found somebody had broken into their home through the back door. Property was stolen from the home, including jewelry, cash, and prescription drugs.
Officers found footprints in the snow leading to and from a neighboring house behind the victim’s home. When they went to the second house, they found a door partially opened. Officers found nobody home in the second house, so entered to see if that house was also burglarized. They found no signs of a break-in, so locked the house up.
As officers were investigating the scene, a resident of the second home was dropped off at the house. Officers noticed that this person had shoes that matched the tracks in the snow. After interviewing him, officers arrested the man.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s house. Inside the house, they found items stolen from the victim’s house. They also found evidence from another nearby home invasion. A check with local pawn shops showed that the suspect had sold a guitar taken from a third burglary.
The suspect will be arraigned tomorrow afternoon on charges of Home Invasion and Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property.
SUSPECT: JURY, Christopher Shane, w/m, 29 yrs.
