The Ferndale Fire Marshal is investigating a fire on E. Saratoga Street in Ferndale near Woodward after a fire around 3am this morning.

“Everyone got out safe. There was heavy damage to the upper flat. Thenicholas-schrock-allstate fire marshal is investigating the cause. It seems to have started in a wall near the back door. The tenant in the lower flat was awoken by the smoke detectors…He woke the tenant in the upper flat. Ferndale fire fighters responded quickly,” said the landlord of the duplex.  He also encouraged people to “Check your smoke detectors!”
