Education Advocacy Trip to Lansing Planned for Feb.19

Join the Ferndale Board of Education, administration, union leaders, municipal leaders, PTA and your neighbors and travel to Lansing to advocate for the fair funding of our schools. Although legislator schedules are tentative, this schedule is being designed to allow participants maximum flexibility when scheduling the day. Families are encouraged to bring their children.
8 am Meet on the FHS lawn to assemble caravan and take a group photo.
8:30 am Drive to Lansing
10 am Take another group photo at the State Capital in Lansing
10:30 am Attend a session of the Education Committee
12 to 1 pm Lunch with our legislators, sponsored by Superintendent Gary Meier & BOE Members
1:30 pm We will divide into two teams:
– Key Communicators will attend targeted meetings.
– Ferndale Lobbyists will go to chambers to attend a House session
and engage legislators.
3:30 pm Drive back to Ferndale
To plan the best possible experience for all participants, please sign up so that we can estimate numbers for food and meetings. Especially given that it is an election year, we are very optimistic that a large presence will have a true influence. Please try to attend whatever portion of the day is feasible for you. Your advocacy has never been more needed!
