Have You Pledged Your Reader Support?sidebar01reader_support

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Oct. 21, 2013)

As the Ferndale 115 News expands into a county-wide framework, it’s important that we show what kind of support this online news project has, and get a steady stream of funding going.  Our goal is to encourage journalism’s revival, with a grassroots approach that is not dependent on big corporate whims or tricks like punditry and sensationalism.  We need the news.  We need it for democracy to work. And we need it so the public can be informed, inspired and connected.

Our Reader sidebar01sponsorSupport Program is the perfect way to stand up for local journalism and keep the oc115 funded.

Some news outlets limit access to news with subscriptions or pay-per view stories.  But we want information to be accessible to all.  To do this, we rely on those who understand the value of this resource to chip in so that the entire community can benefit.

Reader Support ads are just $15 a month.  We can also take one-time contributions of any amount.  A Thank You is published in two places on our website, plus it goes on our Facebook page.  It’s a fun way to be involved, and help us accomplish great things in Ferndale and beyond. Monthly payments are easy to cancel if need be.sidebar011beesponsor

Our business sponsorships are also great for those who want to reach an ever-growing base of readers that care about the community.  Check out those rates at http://oaklandcounty115.com/sponsorshipadvertising/.

If we are able to get 115 Reader Support pledges it will be a major tipping point in making this project all that it can be!   The Ferndale 115 began in 2009, with zero resources and a dream.  Now we reach over 10,000 unique readers each month (sometimes up to 20,000).  We provide daily news stories, information about nonprofits and community events, crime stories, investigative reporting, local government coverage and the warm and fuzzy feelings of  “informing, inspiring and connecting” our communities.

Thank you to everyone who signs up.  (Note that the Pay Pal is under our official business name, which is Muskegon 115.  That’s where the test run of this dream began!)
