Assaults

Troy Beaumont Hospital, 44201 Dequindre Rd, 9/29/13, 8:05 am: Troy officers were dispatched on an assaultive parent of a newborn. The suspect was upset due to treatment from the birth of his child and did not want the baby to stay in the hospital for care. The suspect was asked to leave and became violent and struck a security officer in the head with a machine from the patient’s room. Officers arrived and the suspect became combative with officers as well. The suspect, a 27-year-old from Macomb was arrested for “HINDER & OBSTRUCT” and “ASSAULT & BATTERY.” Officers were dispatched to a report of a fight in a hotel room involving three women. When officers arrived the fight was over and security had separated the women. Two of the women had sustained very minor injuries. The involved parties agreed to separate for the night and the incident has been turned over to the Troy City Attorney for review and possible charges. Alcohol was a contributing factor.

Auto/Vehicle Thefts

JudyPalmer01Macy’s, 500 W Fourteen Mile Rd, 10/1/13, 1:45 pm: The complainant advised he went into Somerset Collection and a little while later he realized he had left his keys in his vehicle and left the vehicle unlocked. When he returned he discovered his 2005 Range Rover missing.

 Civil Issues

Troy Officers responded to one incident involving a child custody dispute in which there was no reason for formal enforcement action.lock on an office door was pried open. It does not appear that anything was stolen

Credit, Check, Identity Theft, Other Fraud

1288 Beattie Dr, 9/30/13, 4 pm:  The complainant advised she was contacted by her Credit Union advising her of unusual charges. Resident stated her debit card was used six times in Las Vegas at three casinos for ATM withdrawals in the amount of $4,286.68.

Speedway, 2980 John R Rd, 10/5/13, 2:17 pm:  The complainant advised her credit card was stolen out of dinos02sidelogo3her purse while at a party in Detroit. Complainant advised fraudulent charges were made at the Speedway in Troy.

6000 block of Michael, 9/14/13, 9 am:  Resident advised she was contacted by Bank of America regarding a fraudulent account opened in her name. Resident advised no one had permission to open an account.

5000 block of Cameron, 9/3/13 – 9/30/13, 12 pm:  Resident was advised her credit card was used to make purchases in Istanbul, Turkey. Resident advised no one had permission to make purchases.

3000 block of Bellows, 1/1/13 – 10/1/13, 12 pm: Complainant advised she received a letter from Highland Park regarding back taxes on a property she owned. Complainant advised she does not own a property in Highland Park and no one had permission to use her information to buy property.

1000 block of Snead, 9/2/13, 1:59 pm:  Resident reported he received an email from his fraud alert program advising his debit card had been used to purchase $329.66 worth of merchandise from the Family Dollar Store in Kalamazoo. Resident advised he did make the purchase.

2000 block of Lovington, 3/18/13: When the complainant received a phone call from a collection agency nicholas-schrock-allstateattempting to collect $880.03 due on a Comcast Cable account she learned that someone had opened an account on 7/23/12 using her identity.

1000 block of Hartland, 9/23/13, 9 am: Resident advised she noticed an unauthorized charge on her debit card to Sear’s in the amount of $500.30. Resident stated she did not make the purchase. .

2000 block of Lovington, 9/24/13, 12-4:20 pm: The Resident advised he was contact via email from his bank that his card had been used in Detroit at ATM’s. Resident stated no one had permission to access his account.

 Domestic/Family Trouble

Troy Officers responded to 15 incidents involving domestic disputes or family troubles during this reporting period.  On-scene investigation of these incidents did not result in evidence of crimes being committed; however, Officers were required to take non-enforcement actions to either mediate the situation or keep the peace.  Readers should be aware that although these incidents did not result in arrest or prosecution, they do represent significant law enforcement resources in terms of time, on-scene investigation, potential relocation of disputants, referrals to support agencies, peace keeping, as well as detective and prosecutorial review.erica Tierney thank you

Drugs/Narcotics

335 Lowry, 10/5/13, 1:45 am: Troy Officers responded to a family trouble between brothers. The suspect was found to have warrants for his arrest. In the suspect’s room narcotic paraphernalia was found which is utilized to “cook” heroin. Also discovered were two bottles containing Heroin. The suspect, a 29-year-old from Troy was arrested for “POSSESSION OF HEROIN.”

I-75 & Crooks, 10/3/13, 12:43 am:   Troy Officers stopped a vehicle after observing it failing to maintain control while attempting to stay in its lane. Officer immediately detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle upon approach. The driver and two passengers did not have medical marijuana cards. The driver and two passengers each were found in possession of marijuana. The driver, an 18-year-old from Oxford and the passengers, an 18-year-old and 22-year-old from Clarkston were issued citations for “POSSESSION OF MARIJIANA.”

W Big Beaver & Town Center, 9/27/13, 7:35 am: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle for a red light violation. richard gage adOfficers detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and observed a package of “rolling papers” used to smoke marijuana on the front seat of the vehicle. The driver was cited for “POSSESSION OF NARCOTIC PARAPHERNALIA” and “NO INSURANCE.”

John R Rd & E Maple, 9/26/13, 4:14 pm: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle with an expired plate. While speaking with the driver, officers could detect the odor of marijuana. The driver admitted to having marijuana in the center console. The marijuana was confiscated and the driver, a 32-year-old from Madison Heights was arrested for “POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA.”

2000 block of Sparta, 9/26/13, 9:49 pm:  Troy Officers were dispatched to a complainant of a suspicious vehicle in front of the callers home. Officers located the vehicle which was occupied. Officers spoke to the driver who stated he was talking on the phone. Officers suspecting drug use, requested to search the vehicle. The driver consented and officers found medical use marijuana and several prescription narcotics in pill bottles without labels. The driver advised he had purchased the pills from a woman. The driver, a 28-year-old from Troy was arrested for “POSSESSION OF PRESCRIPTION NARCOTICS.”

W Big Beaver & Town Center, 9/27/13, 7:35 am: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle for a red light violation. Officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and observed a package of “rolling papers” used to smoke marijuana on the front seat of the vehicle. The driver was cited for “POSSESSION OF HowesLocationNARCOTIC PARAPHERNALIA” and “NO INSURANCE.”

Driving Under Influence of Alcohol/Drugs

Stephenson Hwy & E Maple Rd, 10/6/13, 1:03 am: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle traveling southbound massagein the northbound lanes. The driver advised officers he had just smoked marijuana and provided officers with his medical marijuana card. The driver failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 29-year-old from Farmington Hills was arrested for “OPERATING WHILE INTOXICATED.” Breath test results were .15%.

Stephenson Hwy & E Maple Rd, 10/6/13, 4:49 am:  Troy Officers stopped a vehicle for a red light violation. The driver had a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his person. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 27-year-old from Rochester Hills has a prior conviction for drunk driving and was arrested for “OPERATING WHILE INTOXICATED 2ND OFFENSE.”

Rochester & E Big Beaver Rd, 10/3/13, 12:54 am: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle after the vehicle failed to stop for a blinking red light. The driver was observed with blood shot eyes and a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his person. The driver, a 31-year-old from Troy failed field sobrieties and was arrested for “OPERATING WHILE INTOXCIATED.” Breath test results were .14%.

5000 block of Willow Grove, 10/3/13, 2:42 am: A Troy Officer were dispatched to a single car accident where the vehicle had crashed into the ditch. The driver was located at a residence near the crash. The driver was observed to have a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his breath. The driver, a 29-year-old from Rochester Hills failed field sobrieties and was arrested for “OPERATING WHILE INTOXICATED” and “LEAVINGsidebar01sponsor THE SCENE OF AN ACCIDENT.” Breath test results were .12%.

Crooks & Square Lake, 10/4/13, 1 am:  Troy Officers stopped a vehicle which was traveling under the posted limit and causing a hazard. The driver later admitted to trying to elude officers because his license was suspended and he had warrants for his arrest. The driver had an odor of intoxicants coming from his person. Officers discovered open cans of cold beer in the vehicle. The driver failed field sobrieties and had three prior drunk driving convictions. The driver, a 32-year-old from Fenton was arrested for “OPERATING WHILE INTOXICATED 3RD OFFENSE”, “OPEN INTOXICANTS IN A MOTOR VEHICLE” and “DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED.” A blood draw was conducted with results pending.

I-75 & Rochester Rd, 9/28/13, 1:46 pm: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver had slurred speech and watery blood shot eyes. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 54-year old from Lake Orion had a prior conviction for drunk driving and was arrested for “OPERATING WHILE INTOXICATED 2ND OFFENSE.” Breath test results were .13%.

Rochester Rd & Wattles Rd, 9/28/13, 2:39 am: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. The vehicle had a strong odor of intoxicants coming from inside. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. ctechadThe driver, a 41-year-old from Troy was arrested for “OPERATING WHILE INTOXICATED.” Breath test results were .09%.

Morningdale & Whitehall, 9/29/13, 2:11 am: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle for a red light violation. The driver had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person and bloodshot watery eyes. The driver, a 22-year-old from New Boston failed field sobrieties and was arrested for “OPERATING WHILE INTOXICATED.” Breath test results were .10%.

I-75 & W Fourteen Mile Rd, 9/29/13, 6:40 am: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation. Officers detected an odor of marijuana when speaking with the driver. The driver did not have a medical marijuana card and advised officers he had a small amount of marijuana in his console. The driver had blood shot glassy eyes and failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 23-year-old from Sterling Heights was arrested for “POSSESSION OF NARCOTIC PARAPHERNALIA,” “POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA” and “OPERATING WITH THE PRESENCE OF DRUGS.” A blood draw was conducted with results pending.

I-75 & Adams Rd, 9/30/13, 1:38 am: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver had a strong odor of intoxicants coming from his person. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver was found to have a suspended license and a prior conviction for drunk driving. The driver, a essential37-year-old from Detroit was arrested for “OPERATING WHILE INTOXICATED 2ND OFFENSE” and “DRIVING WHILE LICENSE SUSPENDED.” Breath test results were .19%.

W Maple Rd & Custer, 9/26/13, 2:31 am: Troy Officers stopped a vehicle after observing it drift across lane markers. The driver was observed with bloodshot glassy eyes and an odor of intoxicants coming from inside the vehicle. The driver, a 23-year-old from Troy failed field sobrieties and was arrested for “OPERATING WHILE INTOXICATED.” A blood test was conducted with result pending.

Home Invasions

4263 Brightwood, 10/4/13, 11:05 am – 2:40 pm:  Resident advised his pedestrian garage door was open. Officers and resident checked the home with items dumped out of dresser drawers, however it appeared as if nothing had been stolen.

2848 Winter, 10/4/13, 9 am – 3:30 pm: Troy officers responded to a home invasion. Resident advised the front door to the home had been forced open. Resident and officers searched the house and observed the gallowaycollens1bedroom had been rummaged through. Resident advised it appeared nothing was missing from the home.

4373 Bennet Park Circle, 10/5/13, 11:30 am:  Complainant advised appliances were stolen from his home under construction. Complainant advised a GE washer and dryer, GE stove and wood flooring were stolen. Total value of stolen items is $6,000.

1000 block of Lexington, 10/1/13, 1:30 – 9 pm:  Resident advised they left the home secured however failed to set the alarm. When they returned home they discovered the kitchen window was open and the screen was lying on the kitchen floor. Resident advised her jewelry bag and husband’s Rolex watch were missing. Value of the stolen items was $15,890.

3000 block of Wakefield Dr, 10/2/13, 12:50 pm – 4:30 pm:  Resident advised she left her home secured and when her husband returned home he discovered a rock had been thrown through a rear window. Complainant advised the bedroom had been ransacked and missing were jewelry ($10,500), two iPods ($700), iPod shuffle ($200), kindle fire ($350) and loose change ($100).

2000 block of Winter, 10/2/13, 7 am – 1:45 pm:   Resident advised he left his residence secured and when he returned, he discovered his attached garage pedestrian door had been forced open. A kitchen window was smashed, however no entry was made to the home.

1000 block of Crimson, 9/29/13, 12 – 3:30 pm:  Troy officers were dispatched to the residence where complainant advised while he was away someone entered his home through a second story window left open for his cat. Complainant advised a necklace, gold and moderntaxsilver coins and $500.00 cash was missing.

Larcenies

 

Oakland Mall, 412 W Fourteen Mile Rd, 10/5/13, 9:56 pm: Complainant advised she had just made a purchase in a store at the mall. Complainant stated she sat down on a bench and then left. The complainant stated she realized she didn’t have her purse and returned to the bench however her purse was gone. Complainant stated in the purse was her credit cards and $70.00 cash.

Lifetime Fitness, 4700 Investment, 9/30/13, 6 – 7 pm: Complainant advised he placed his gym bag next to his bike during spinning class. Complainant stated he went to put his bike away and when he returned his wallet was missing.

Wal-Mart, 2001 W Maple Rd, 10/1/13, 9:30 – 10:30 pm:  Complainant advised he left his tools in a work bag at the construction site and when he returned the bag and tools were missing. The value of the tools was $3,390.

LA Fitness, 710 W Big Beaver Rd, 9/27/13, 2 – 3 pm:  Complainant advised she locked her personal items in a locker and when she returned a different lock was on her locker. The lock was cut by staff and the complainant discovered her purse stolen with $200.00 cash and credit card inside.

1000 block of Country Drive, 9/30/13, 7 am:  Complainant advised he parked his vehicle in the driveway. When he returned he found his passenger window smashed out and his laptop stolen.

6000 block of Crestview, 9/29/13 – 9/30/13, 8 pm – 9 am:  Resident advised her vehicle was broken into overnight and her purse was stolen. Inside the purse was jewelry, credit cards and cash.

6000 block of Forest Park, 9/29/13 – 9/30/13, 5 pm – 10 am: Several complainants in the neighborhood for larcenies from autos. Missing items included wallets with cash and credit cards and GPS unit.  

300 block of W Big Beaver Rd, 9/30/13, 8 am – 5 pm: Complainant advised she parked her car in the lot and went to work. When she returned she discovered the catalytic converter stolen off of her 2001 Chevy Van.  

Elite Wholesale, 82 Park, 10/1/13 – 10/2/13, 9:30 pm – 4 am:  Complainant advised four wheels were stolen off of his Buick parked in the lot. The wheels were valued at $2,000.  

1000 block of Boulan St, 10/2/13, 1:29 pm: Complainant advised two vehicles were parked in the driveway overnight.  Both vehicles were left unlocked and loose change was found missing.   

Zoup, 2873 W Maple Rd, 8/30/13, 12:30 pm: The Complainant advised he parked his pickup loaded with lawn equipment. When he returned he discovered two Redmax Blowers and two Shindawa trimmers were stolen.

3000 block of Weathervane Lane, 10/2/13, 12:05 am – 8 am: Complainant advised his vehicle was parked in the driveway overnight. When he returned he discovered his laptop was missing. Complainant advised he thought he may have left the vehicle craig covey 2013 mayor adunlocked.   

4000 block of Marywood St, 10/1/13 – 10/2/13 11 pm – 7 am:  Complainant advised sometime overnight his amplifier and speaker were stolen from his vehicle. Complainant advised he may have left the tailgate unlocked.

900 block of Durham, 10/1/13 – 10/2/13, 9 pm – 6 am:  Complainant advised his car was parked in the driveway overnight. When the complainant returned to his vehicle he discovered his wallet with cash and credit cards was missing.

Sylvan Glen Golf Course, 5725 Rochester Rd, 10/2/13 – 10/3/12, 1:30 pm – 11 am: Complainant advised he parked his vehicle in the lot and when he returned he discovered his golf clubs, satellite radio and range finder missing. Complainant advised he was not sure if the vehicle was locked. The missing items were valued at $2,500.

2000 block of Haverford, 10/3/13, 11:30 pm:  Officers responded to an attempt larceny from auto. The resident informed officers he heard his car alarm go off and observed a subject running from his vehicle through his backyard. The resident advised his passenger door does not lock, however the alarm on the vehicle works. Nothing was missing from the vehicle.

Lincoln of Troy, 1950 W Maple Rd, 9/27/13 – 9/28/13, 6 pm – 9 am: Complainant advised four wheels and tires were stolen from vehicles parked in the lot. The tires were valued at $1,600.  

DDAsample012000 block of Hempstead St, 9/24/13 – 9/25/13, 9:30 pm – 7:30 am:  Resident reported her vehicle was parked in the driveway. When she returned she discovered the rear driver’s side window smashed and a briefcase containing medical equipment was missing.

1000 block of Sparrow Court, 9/24/13 – 9/25/13, 9 pm – 8:10 am:  Complainant reported she parked her vehicle in the driveway overnight. When she returned to the vehicle she discovered her rear passenger window smashed. Complainant stated her tote bag containing $350.00 cash, an iPad 2, gift cards and Visa card were missing.

Red Roof Inn, 2350 Rochester Ct, 9/16/13 – 9/17/13, 1 am – 7 am: Complainant reported he parked his vehicle in the lot and when he returned he found his Camcorder, laptop and camera were stolen from the vehicle.   

Fisher Auto Body, 1759 Maplelawn, 9/16/13 – 9/26/13, 12 pm: Complainant advised she dropped off her van for repair. Inside the van were 6 boxes of 75 DVD’s in each box. One of the sliding doors on the van was not locked. When complainant returned to pick up the van all 6 boxes were missing.

 

Malicious Destruction of Property

 

Wattles Rd & Finch, 10/2/13, 1 pm: Complainant advised she was driving and heard a loud noise and her right rear window smashed. The complainant advised she believed it was caused by a BB.

Wal-Mart, 2001 W Maple Rd, 10/3/13, 7:12: Loss prevention advised the suspect was observed selecting merchandise and concealing it in his pants. The suspect left the store making no effort to pay for the concealed merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspect and recovered the merchandise valued at $73.23. The suspect, a 27-year-old from Royal Oak was arrested for “RETAIL FRAUD III.”

Nordstrom, 2850 W Big Beaver Rd, 9/27/13, 5:09 pm:  Loss prevention advised two suspects were observed selecting merchandise and concealing it in their purses. The suspects left the store failing to pay for the merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspects and recovered the merchandise valued at $111.00. The suspects, a 16-year-old and 17-year old both from Troy were arrested for “RETAIL FRAUD III.”

The suspect then left the store failing to pay for the concealed merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspect and recovered the merchandise valued at $230.86. The suspect, a 19-year-old from Troy was arrested for “RETAIL FRAUD III.”

Macy’s, 500 W Fourteen Mile Rd, 9/26/13, 5:41 pm:  Loss prevention advised two suspects were observed selecting merchandise and concealing it in their purses. The suspects exited the store without paying for the concealed merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspects and recovered the merchandise totaling $864.98. The suspects, a 17-year-old from Ferndale and a 19-year-old from Madison Heights were arrested for “RETAIL FRAUD 2ND DEGREE.”

Weapons Offense

 

Holiday Inn Express, 400 Stephenson Hwy, 9/17/13, 1:29 pm:  Officers were dispatched to a call of a suspicious vehicle. The officers arrived and were met by the caller who was agitated and concerned he was being watched. Officers observed a knife sticking out of the caller’s pocket and removed it for safety. When the caller was questioned if he had any other weapons he stated he had a knife in his backpack. Officers retrieved a 10 inch hunting knife from the backpack as well as some rolling papers used to smoke marijuana. The caller was arrested for “CARRYING A CONCEALED WEAPON” and “POSSESSION OF NARCOTIC PARAPHERNALLIA.” The original called in suspicious car was checked and found not to be suspicious.

Rochester & Owendale, 9/28/13, 4 pm:  Troy officers stopped a vehicle for speeding in a construction zone. The driver had an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver admitted to having a “joint” in the ashtray and four small baggies of marijuana in an eyeglass case. The driver advised he had a medical marijuana card and was a provider, however could not supply the officer with the card. The driver was removed from the vehicle and officers discovered a “clip” for a .38 revolver in the driver’s waist band. The officers discovered a .38 revolver in the vehicle. The driver did not have a concealed weapons permit. The driver was arrested for “POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO SELL” and “CARRYING A CONCEALED WEAPON.”

 

Welfare Checks

 

Troy Officers responded to three incidents involving a person with emotional or psychological issues and assisted with transport to a hospital for evaluation and possible commitment.

I-75 & Wattles, 4/3/13, 11:54 pm: Troy officers were dispatched to a report of a woman carrying a small child wandering in traffic. Officers located the suspect who appeared extremely intoxicated and could not explain how she got there. The child appeared unharmed; however the suspect had a fresh abrasion on her forehead. The suspect stated she was babysitting the child for her best friend. The child’s mother was contacted and advised the suspect was someone she met recently at the hospital who had a drinking problem. The mother advised she was trying to help the suspect with her problems. The suspect was released pending warrant issue.

Miscellaneous

5000 block of Ridge Court, 9/25/13, 7:22 pm: Troy officers were dispatched to a complainant of solicitors in the area. Officers made contact with the suspect who had not obtained a permit with the city to solicit. The suspect, a 25-year-old from Clarkston was issued a citation for “SOLICITING WITHOUT A PERMIT.”
