Award-winning local photographer Marco Mancinelli will be presenting slides of his work, speaking about his craft and sharing exciting experiences from around the world at the Ferndale Public Library on Wednesday, June 12 at 7pm.

Marco portraitA former Michigan Photographer of the Year, Mancinelli has been exhibiting his photographs for more than thirty years. He’s also been honored as Detroit Photographer of the Year and won the Fuji Film Masterpiece Award and Eastman Kodak Gallery Award.

Mancinelli’s stirring photography, capturing soulful portraits and uncanny real-life moments from around Detroit and the other side of the world, are currently on exhibit in the Library’s Atrium and Community room. The Detroit native particularly aims to capturing positive images of his city and its people.

“I’ve always had a love for the city and I love the people and mix of people,” he said. “Now, for me I want to show a positive light to the city. There’s so much negative. I want to show there’s all these wonderful people in the city.”

The Ferndale Public Library Art and Exhibitions Committee’s mission is to promote and foster an appreciation of two and three-dimensional art for library patrons, through exhibits, lectures, and an expanded collection of art books.
