(C. Proxmire, April 24, 2013)
The Day of Books and Roses brought Ferndale together in support of the Ferndale Public Library, and honored the legend of St. Jordi of Catalonia. On this day, lovers exchange books and roses, and it is the number one day for book sales in Spain. The official day is April 23. Here in Ferndale it was celebrated on April 21, with food, wine, poetry readings and music added into the mix.
The event was put on by the Friends of the Ferndale Library, and the money raised will be donated to help fund programs that occur at the Library. Learn more about the Friends of the FPL at http://ferndalefriends.org/.
