Last year’s community clean-up day was so successful that organizer Matt Nowaczok of the Ferndale Community Foundation is bringing it back for round two – this year with a messy little twist.

People who donate $20 or more will be entered into a drawing for the chance to throw a chocolate mud pie at Nowaczok or Councilperson Dan Martin.  Their goal is to raise at least $1,000 for Reid_Sally_115clean-up projects around town.

Nearly 100 volunteers came out for last year’s event, and the business community has given a lot of support as well.

‘As the business community stepped up and paid for all administrative costs, every dollar we raise now will be used on May 11, 2013 to Clean the Ferndale UP,” Nowaczok said.  The drawing will be held on May 3 so the winner can come prepared with their pitching arm.
