Ferndale Garden Club Scholarship Deadline March 15

The Ferndale Garden Club offers a scholarship each year to a Ferndale senior, and application information is now available by contacting Kathy Wiley at Ferndale High School’s College & Career Planning Center (  The deadline is March 15th.

Students do not have to share the group’s love of plants, however students who are interested in biology, agriculture, horticulture, and ecology are particularly encouraged to apply.

The Garden Club raises money year round and is proud to be one of many groups and businesses that give back to the youth of the community.  Though many of the Garden Club members are retired people who enjoy working in their yards or on the community flower garden, they understand the value of supporting young people in the community as they head off into the adult world of higher education. group has been active since 1931 and there are now over 30 members Members do not need to be experts, though many have gardens of breathtaking beauty, and some are even certified Master Gardeners.  Their objective is “to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, to aim in the protection of native birds and to encourage civic betterment.”

Meetings are monthly at the Kulick Community Center (1201 Livernois) on the second Thursday of the month from September through May.
