(Lt. William Wilson, Ferndale Police Department, Dec. 14, 2012

On 12/12/12 at about 10:30 a.m. police acted on a citizen’s tip that a suspicious package was dropped off by a FedEx

truck and picked up a short time later by people in a car. The caller said that this suspicious activity occurred repeatedly

over past months. He believed drug activity was taking place. Ferndale police responded to the complaint and an officer

spotted the suspect vehicle driving away from the area. Officers stopped the vehicle on Woodward south of 8 Mile.

Officers immediately smelled marijuana from inside of the car and arrested the driver (Kevin STOLGER) for a small

amount of marijuana that was in a cup like ashtray in the vehicle. The passenger (Phillip Cooper) was arrested on an

outstanding warrant. Hazel Park police K‐9 unit assisted and the dog indicated the package in the vehicle might contain

drugs. Police obtained a search warrant and examined the contents of the box and found that it contained

approximately 15 Lbs. of marijuana.

During the booking procedure, police found Stolger had marijuana hidden in his clothing.

On 12/13/12, Cooper was released on personal bond after being arraigned for the marijuana he had on his person.

Regarding the 15 lbs of marijuana, the case is still under investigation and no warrants have been issued at this time.

Anybody with information regarding this case should call Ferndale Police  (248-541-3650) or Crimestoppers for a possible reward.
