Burglars Busted Trying to Sell Laptop Back to Owner

(Lt. William Wilson, Ferndale Police, June 28, 2012)

During the period from June 7th to June 15th 2012, three houses were burglarized while the residents were inside of the homes. The homes were all along a stretch along 8 Mile road between Woodward and Pinecrest. One of the items stolen in the burglaries was a laptop computer. The Apple computer was equipped with a security device that shut down access for use of the computer and resulted in the monitor displaying a message that the computer was stolen and to phone the owner.

The victim notified the police and an officer posed as the victim to meet the suspect on the evening of Tuesday, June 26th.  The suspect (Wideman) drove to the meet along with his female companion (Shamoon). The two suspects approached the undercover officer in an attempt to sell him the stolen computer. Police then moved in and arrested the two suspects.

Shamoon had some marijuana in her purse.

Detectives searched the Detroit apartment of Wideman and found marijuana, cash, and a handgun. This information is being handed over to the Detroit Police Department for further investigation.

Police are still investigating the home invasions. Anybody with information should contact the Ferndale Police Department.
