April 14th is Clean & Green Day for JFK

(from Press Release, Ferndale 115 News, April 1, 2012 ed.)

John F. Kennedy Elementary School’s Annual Earth Week event is on Saturday, April 14.  It’s a three-parter: multi-family garage sale; electronics/appliance recycling drop-off; and native plant sale.

The electronics/appliance/household junk collection is new this year. Statewide Recycling and Recovery will have a large truck parked at the school. A full list of all acceptable items (it’s a long list) can be found on our Facebook page. We are encouraging anyone in the area with stuff to donate to come by on April 14.

JFK, in Oak Park, is part of the Ferndale public school district.

MULTIFAMILY GARAGE SALE: Household items, furniture, clothing, children’s goods, collectibles, vintage items and more. Baked goods and beverages also for sale in cafeteria.

ELECTRONICS/APPLIANCE RECYCLING: Statewide Recycling and Recovery will be in the Rosewood parking lot to collect unwanted household/office items. See our Facebook page (search: Kennedy Elementary Garage Sale) for complete list of acceptable items. JFK gets 65 % of net proceeds.

NATIVE PLANT SALE: Pre-order during the sale from a wide selection of easy-to-maintain flowers and plants that will attract butterflies to your garden. Orders will be delivered in late May.

SATURDAY, APRIL 14, 2012 –  9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 24220 Rosewood, Oak Park Call 248-918-9297 for more information.  All proceeds benefit JFK’s PTA and Green School Committee.  Read more about Kennedy’s Green School Committee at http://oaklandcounty115.com/2011/04/03/john-f-kennedy-green-school-profile/.
