Community Wide Read for March 2012
Ferndale Public Library Announces Community Wide Read for March 2012
All of Ferndale Encouraged to Read The Local News by Miriam Gershow
(Ferndale Public Library Press Release, Ferndale 115 News, Feb 1, 2012 ed.)
The wait is over, Ferndale Readers! This year’s pick for Ferndale’s community-wide reading event is The Local News by Miriam Gershow.
After months of deliberating, Project Coordinator Darlene Hellenberg has finally settled on the gripping tale of a missing boy told through the eyes of his teenage sister. “I wanted a book with a strong female lead,” says Hellenberg. “Lydia is definitely a compelling character. The fact that the story is set in Michigan is an added bonus.”
For the third year in a row, Ferndale Public Library will host a month of events centered around one book, a book that interested readers can get at the library. This March, Ferndale will be treated to another round of programming, including 90s trivia night, book discussions, a film series, and a visit from Miriam Gershow herself. The kick-off event for Ferndale Reads is February 16th at 7 PM. A full schedule of events will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
