Fleeing and Eluding Suspect Arrested
(Lt. William Wilson, Ferndale Police Dept, 01/04/2012)
On January 2, 2012 at about 4:20 in the afternoon, Madison Heights Police Department were involved in a vehicle chase of a Red Sonoma Pick-up truck and terminated the pursuit. Cars were on the lookout for the pick-up and shortly after, a Ferndale officer spotted the truck in Ferndale. The truck was being driven by a yet identified white male (later determined to be David Alan Jones, w/m, 47, Hazel Park resident) . The officer tried to stop the truck, and again the driver fled. The truck sped through streets in Ferndale and Hazel Park, ran red lights, avoided oncoming police cars, evaded some stop sticks thrown out by police, and drove recklessly through residential and business districts. Due to the dangerousness of the pursuit, Ferndale terminated the chase.
Shortly after the chase ended, a Hazel Park officer saw the pick-up at a gas station in Hazel Park; it was now driven by a woman. Officers approached her and she told them it was her husband who fled from the police.
Officers went to Jones’ home and arrested him.
Jones was arraigned yesterday by Magistrate Brennan who set bond at $25,000 for Fleeing and Eluding and Driving on a Suspended License.
