(MCFG Press Release, 10/23/2011)

Motor City Free Geek, a reuse, repair and recycler of technology products has donated a laptop computer to the Department of Michigan Marine Corps League of Washington, Michigan.

Members of the Marine Corps League voluntarily render assistance to all current and former Marines and to their widows and orphans, and work to perpetuate the history of the Marine Corps by observing the anniversaries of historical occasions of particular interest to Marines.

According to George Wittstock, Adjutant of the Department of Michigan Marine Corps League, “The laptop will make it so much easier to conduct league business”.

Executive Director of Motor City Free Geek Ken Grundberg stated that “We are happy to be able to provide this equipment to the Marine Corps League and, by doing so, to assist them in their good works.”

Motor City Free Geek is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the repair and distribution of computers, cell phone, printers, cameras etc, responsible recycling of electronic waste, and teaching of open source software.

Refurbished equipment is made available without cost to needy individuals, churches, schools, non-profit agencies, and is offered for sale in thrift stores.

Grundberg added “By rebuilding, updating and cleaning “retired’ electronic devices that have been contributed by companies and individuals, we reduce the incredible volume of dangerous materials that would otherwise end up in landfills, while providing useful equipment to local non-profits and others in need.”
