Car Loses Control and Hits Courthouse

Car Loses Control and Hits Courthouse

(Crystal A. Proxmire, Ferndale 115 News, 10/06/2011)

At just before 8pm on Thursday, October 06, 2011 a man with a medical condition lost control of his vehicle, which hit the front of the 43rd District Courthouse at 305 E. 9 Mile.

Police on the scene asked that the man’s privacy be respected and that the health condition that prompted his accident not be revealed.  He and a relative were in the car, and neither were injured.  Police say that no tickets were issued.

The impact destroyed several of the large wooden beams that decorate the building’s perimeter.Within minutes the vehicle was towed away and the damaged beams torn down.  The area remains taped off until the damage can be better assessed by daylight.
