Community Foundation Grants Announced

The Ferndale Community Foundation has announced seven grant awards for 2011.  The awards go to groups and efforts that make the community better. Dan Martin, President of the Community Foundation, presented the awards along with Treasurer Helen Weber. Since 2003 the Foundation has provided over $50,000 to local causes.

The awardees are:

 

~FernCare Free Health Clinic, to help them build long-term relationships with business donors.

~Ferndale Environmental Sustainability Commission, to provide educational classes on green topics.

~Ferndale Fine Arts Boosters, for their orchestra program to repair instruments for middle and elementary school students.

~Ferndale Recreation, for a garden to go in Garbutt Park to be part of the Ferndale Farm Stand.

~Ferndale Youth Assistance, to provide classes for parents

~Mayor Dave Coulter, for a backpack program to help preschoolers get ready to learn

~Michigan AIDS Coalition

~Ferndale Seniors
