Assembly Line Third Shift (March 18)

Assembly Line Third Shift Record-Breaking Concert Attempt Begins March 18

(AJ O’Neil)

US Rep Gary Peters ( D-MI) and his wife, Colleen are among the confirmed guest who will be attending the pre- Assembly Line III Pep Rally , March 18th, the evening before the Guinness attempt 360 hour concert at AJ’s Cafe in this Detroit suburb.

The grass roots concert, third in an annual effort which focuses awareness on domestic auto and manufacturing workers will attempt to recapture the world record crown that was overtaken in July 2010 by a suburban Atlanta pizza pub.

“The pre concert Pep Rally is a “dry run” and a way to say thank you to our supporters, “AJ O’Neil , cafe owner and concert founder said. “We’ll also use this as a way to recognize the central theme behind this year’s concert, that being a main street perspective to the challenges which face us as businesses operating in anytown USA and how that relates to industry,” O’Neil added.

This year, O’Neil is emphasizing “cross-trickle” economics. He coined that term to define the relationship between the workers, corporations, and community main streets.

“A worker (producer) and a consumer (customer) are one and the same. They are the direct link to our economic strength in this region and are a huge backbone to our national economy,” O’Neil maintains. These workers are paid to build a product and with that pay, they purchase homes, start families, go to doctors, buy a car, vacation, groceries…, and with what’s left over, go to the movies, the salon… and buy lattes at my cafe, “ he added.

“It makes the best sense for corporations to have a strong, fairly treated domestic workforce who become their best asset, and best customers. ‘They’re my customers too, and in every other shop and business on every other main street in the Midwest and beyond,” he added.  ‘They are the builders of community and because of this, I, we, should have a say in this.”

The concert will begin at 5 pm on Saturday, March 19 and run continually for 360 non – stop hours, through April 3rd.  For more information see http://assemblylineconcerts.com or call AJ O’Neil (248) 399 3946 between 2pm and 11pm.  Spaces are still available for bands and musicians who would like to take part.
